States with Coalitions

Louisiana Public Pension Coalition (LPPC)

Since 2012, the Louisiana Public Pension Coalition has roudly represented hundreds of thousands of teachers, school employees, nurses, police, firefighters, state workers, and other public sector employees.

About Louisiana’s Coalition

Together, we affect policy that will protect the financial security of working families who rely on public pensions. We also undertake the task of educating policy makers and the public on the sustainability of public pensions.

We believe every Louisianan should be able to retire in dignity. We also know that there is no one more interested in strengthening the public pensions system than the public employees who are counting on pensions to retire. After all, public pensions are the only source of retirement for most public employees in Louisiana, since they do not receive Social Security.

Pension plans also play a vital role in decreasing poverty among older Americans, and in many Louisiana parishes, public pension income is the number one source of overall income.

Across Louisiana, public employees – all of whom have faithfully contributed their life savings into the pensions systems – are at the mercy of public officials who have, at times, unfairly targeted their financial security for political gain. The LPPC is working to preserve the financial security of all workers for generations to come.
